SUSTAINABILITY
British Land has long been committed to putting sustainability at the heart of our business.
In 2010/11 we reduced like for like energy use at Regent’s Place by 17% saving 4.1 million kWh of power and 3,239 tonnes of CO2e, as well as cutting energy bills for our occupiers by an estimated £424,500 in total against our 2008/9 baseline.
Regent’s Place has continued to send zero waste to landfill in 2010/11, with 402 tonnes being recycled and the remaining 667 tonnes incinerated, the equivalent of £56,600 in landfill taxes since 2008/9.
Our buildings at 10 & 20 Triton Street both achieved 'Excellent' BREEAM and EPC 'B' ratings. They also provide 22,000 sq ft of green roofs, attenuating around 2.4 million litres of water every year, as well as providing a biodiverse habitat for both plants and wildlife.
British Land and Regent's Place have recently won both the 'Built Environment' and the 'Biodiversity' awards at the 2011 Guardian Sustainable Business Awards. Regent's Place also recently won the 2010 Royal Town Planning Institute 'Sustainable Communities' award, reflecting the continued positive contribution that British Land has made to the local communities.
