C4WS Homeless Project

C4WS Homeless Project has been operating in Camden for the last 12 years to support those experiencing homelessness. C4WS uniquely combines short term respite accommodation for those with nowhere else to go with long term holistic welfare that helps them begin the process of rebuilding their lives. The C4WS winter night shelter runs for five months each year and provides a temporary home for nearly 100 guests utilising 13 venues across the borough and the support of more than 700 volunteers. Staff work with each guest coming through the door to secure appropriate housing and support around issues that may have led to them becoming homeless and which may pose problems for them maintaining their new tenancy. In 2014 95% of those engaging with these services were successfully rehoused.

In addition C4WS also operates a weekly drop-in service in King’s Cross providing lunch and support to those in need in the local community, a weekly Jobs Club that assists those who are homeless in obtaining work, training and educational opportunities, English classes to improve written and spoken skills and a Mentoring Scheme in which trained volunteers become befrienders to those who are rehoused and support them with the transition to independent living.
