Bright Lights Virtual Employment Programme Launch

Regent’s Place is launching a free employment revival training course to help jobseekers in the borough of Camden to refresh and develop the skills needed to help them find work. The Bright Lights Virtual Employment Programme will start on 10 May for two weeks and is aimed at anyone who is currently unemployed, at risk of redundancy or on furlough with an uncertain future – either as a result of the pandemic, or due to other circumstances.

The training will be delivered via a virtual classroom and will include sessions to help recruits to develop their CV, build interview and employability skills, prepare for new recruitment practices, and develop digital communication skills. The programme will also provide job application support, the chance to hear from a variety of employers about their recruitment processes, information on local employment opportunities, and access to a personal mentor.

During the second week, participants will also take part in one-to-one coaching with recruitment experts. Those who complete the course will receive ongoing support for up to six months, tailored to their specific needs and ambitions.

The virtual training programme is being funded by Regent’s Place’s owner, British Land, as part of its ongoing commitment to the local community, in partnership with The Launch Group. It forms part of British Land’s wider Bright Lights skills and employment initiative which helps people of all ages and abilities discover their potential through training, work placements, graduate schemes, internships, and apprenticeships.

Nina Lengthorn, Estate Director of Regent’s Place says

We are committed to opening up opportunities for those who live and work in Camden. This new virtual employment programme has been specially developed for people in our local community who have been affected by the pandemic or other circumstances. We hope to help them boost skills and prepare for the future after a hugely challenging time.

Regent’s Place endeavours to create a better future through responsible urbanism, offering an authentic and inclusive space for its diverse local community.

Situated at the crossroads of Camden, Fitzrovia and the Knowledge Quarter, Regent’s Place is a 13 acre, fully managed campus owned by British Land. The neighbourhood offers unrivalled local and international transport links, the latest in sustainable design and a lively mix of retail, leisure and public spaces. At its heart is Regent’s Place Plaza, a place to meet, eat, drink and spend time. The Plaza plays host to an array of regular events, from food markets to an open air big screen.

Regent’s Place totals around two million sq ft of office, retail and residential property. Occupiers range from global businesses such as Dentsu Aegis, Facebook, Lendlease and Santander, to science and health-based organisations including Everlight Radiology, the NHS and the General Medical Council.

Throughout Regent’s Place the open spaces and buildings are enhanced by numerous public art installations, from both internationally recognised names as well as young breakthrough artists commissioned by British Land. The campus has close ties to the local community through the Regent’s Place Community Fund and other long term partnerships.

About British Land

Our portfolio of high quality UK commercial property is focused on London Offices and Retail around the UK.  We own or manage a portfolio valued at £13.7bn (British Land share: £10.3bn) as at 30 September 2020 making us one of Europe’s largest listed real estate investment companies.

Our strategy is to provide places which meet the needs of our customers and respond to changing lifestyles - Places People Prefer.  We do this by creating great environments both inside and outside our buildings and use our scale and placemaking skills to enhance and

enliven them.  This expands their appeal to a broader range of occupiers, creating enduring demand and driving sustainable, long term performance.

Our Offices portfolio comprises three office-led campuses in central London as well as high quality standalone buildings and accounts for 65% of our portfolio.  Our Retail portfolio is focused on retail parks and shopping centres, and accounts for 31% of our portfolio.  Increasingly our focus is on providing a mix of uses and this is most evident at Canada Water, our 53 acre redevelopment opportunity where we have plans to create a new neighbourhood for London.

Sustainability is embedded throughout our business. Our places, which are designed to meet high sustainability standards, become part of local communities, provide opportunities for skills development and employment and promote wellbeing.  In April 2016 British Land received the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development, the UK's highest accolade for business success for economic, social and environmental achievements over a period of five years.
